Sant Jaume, Patron Saint of Alcúdia

July 25th is Sant Jaume, the Patron Saint of Alcúdia, which is celebrated in style. Festivities start a week before with many live concerts, open-air dances, plays, exhibitions, bullfights and, obviously, religious celebrations.

The Triennal del Sant Crist takes place every third year, which is a mass and a deep-rooted procession. This procession dates back to1507. The tradition says that the Sant Crist (Christ saint) sweated blood and water ending a time of drought. The next Triennal will be in the year 2013.

In the night of Sant Jaume a firework display near the walls ends up a week of fun.
