Hiking is in Mallorca a great choice due to its great climate. Most routes around Mallorca can be found in the Serra de Tramuntana and the north of the island, which means that Alcúdia is the right destination for hikers.
In our borough there are various tours such as the tracks to Sa Talaia and Penya des Migdia, tracks to unspoilt coves like Es Coll Baix and the surprising Natural Park of S'Albufera.
Not far away you'll find the Serra de Tramuntana with lots of mountain trails near the sea along rural paths, age-old towns and a beautiful atmosphere. Valldemossa, Deià, Sóller, Sa Calobra, Lluc, Pollença are some of the destinations to get to know more about the local culture and tradition.

Mallorca is a paradise for playing tennis thanks to its climate, the large amount of facilities and the big number of racket lovers on the island. It has turned more and more popular since Mallorcan tennis players like Rafael Nadal and Carlos Moyá are topping the ATP ranking. As a matter of fact in 2004 these players won the Davis cup against USA.
For racket sports lovers, Alcúdia has several centres with all the necessary facilities to practice tennis, squash, paddle and rapid-ball. This one is a brand new sport and has been promoted by the Las Palmeras tennis club in Alcúdia, where the World Championship took place in 2004.

Football is the king of sports in Spain, the sport that most people play and most people talk about. An outstanding league and an ideal climate to practice it have turned football into a mass sport and a media phenomenon. Among the great teams in the first division you'll find Real Mallorca, the biggest football club on the Balearic Islands.
There are two football pitches in Alcúdia, one of artificial lawn and one of natural grass. The artificial one is the pitch where the local team plays. It has changing rooms, stands, a bar and other facilities which turn this pitch into an ideal place for northern Europe teams looking for a milder climate to practice this sport. Both pitches are open throughout the year.

The world of horses and, consequently, horse-racing has always been deep-rooted in the Mallorcan culture and traditions. In fact, harness racing was one of the favourite spectacles for Mallorcan society during the first half of the 20th century. Mallorcan horses have very particular characteristics that make them unique. A typical animal of this breed is always black, with an upright, brachycephalic profile, flat frontals and, on the neck and over the last rib bone, a unique stripe of hair. The Mallorcan breed was not officially recognised by the Defence Ministry until 1989; it was not until then that a Genealogical record of the Mallorcan Race Horse was established.
Every week, harness racing competitions are organised in the hippodrome of Son Pardo and in Manacor. Formerly those races took place in Binissalem, Artà and Sa Pobla. In Alcúdia, on the 26th of July, Santa Ana's day, a race is held near the Roman city of Pollentia.
In Mallorca at Son Pardo Hippodrome a trophy ceremony for Horse-Racing Awards, (SAR) Princess Elena, is held annually, in which the King's daughter usually takes part.
Apart from the competitions Alcúdia is an ideal place to enjoy horses. There are many tourist areas where horses can be hired through clubs and enterprises to ride on organised excursions and enjoy an exceptional landscape whilst also practising equitation
