Alcúdia is located between the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia. It has one of the most extensive bays in Mallorca which benefits from the best navigational conditions making it suitable for all kinds of pleasure boats.
Most part of Alcúdia Bay is protected from the winds although there are some areas where some strong winds like the Tramuntana blow out delighting those high speed lovers.
On our island you can practice lots of sailing sports to such an extent that Palma Bay hosts prestigious competitions such as the King's Cup, the Admiral Comte de Barcelona Trophy, the SAR Princess Sofia Cup and the Breitling cup. These events attract the best international sportsmen and even numerous members of the European royalty to the coasts of the island. The Spanish Royal Family, great lovers of the sea and sailing, participate actively every year in these regattas.

Mallorca is also a suitable place to practice canoeing due to the calmness of its waters. In the month of June a canoeing marathon takes place, the race to Dragonera Island, which concludes with a big party on the beach.

The waters surrounding the north of the island contain marine life of incalculable beauty; therefore it has become a centre of attention for those who love this sport. In Alcúdia there are two specialised centres, equipment rental and organised dives are available, and there is the opportunity to spend a day admiring the marine flora and fauna of the waters around the Balearic coasts.

On September 5th the "Open Waters Crossing" takes place, which is an adventure for the boldest swimmers. They have to cross Pollença Bay, 7 km from the beach of Formentor to the beach of Sant Pere in Alcúdia. It is an annual crossing in which many renowned swimmers take part such as David Meca or Xavi Torres. But anyone can take part in this competition
