Between the traditional music and the new sounds

Music lovers will be pleased with their visit to Alcúdia, where there's a large music tradition linked to the Mediterranean Sea. One of the most known singers of this music of ours is María de Mar Bonet, a sweet voice accompanied by melodies that will transport you to another epoch. There are two main groups in Alcúdia that have brought this ancient music to other countries being awarded with prestigious prizes. They are Sarau alcudienc and Tacaritx and they usually play at local festivals.

In the last decades, traditional music has been influenced by the new import music. This way many rock, pop, country music groups that sing in Catalan have appeared. Some of them are well known like Tomeu Penya.

But the most played music style on the Balearic Islands in the last decades is the electronic sound from Eivissa. José Padilla is regarded as the spiritual father of chill-out, who started sound tracking the sunset over Café del Mar. There are many bars in Alcúdia where you can find this kind of soft electronic sounds.
